100 Days of code – 10% complete
I made it 10 days! Only 90 more to go!
I’ve been coding for an hour every morning, before I go to work. I found when I was studying for my CCIE a couple years ago that I can’t reliably work on something every single day in the evenings. So, every morning, I wake up at about 6:30AM, make some coffee, then program from about 7-8AM.
It’s tough. Every morning, I want to sleep in, or surf the web, or do anything else but code. However, when my hour of coding is finished and I have to get ready for work, I find myself wanting to spend another 5, 10, or 30 minutes coding. Then, I listen to Python podcasts in the car (Python Bytes and Talk Python to Me) and I find myself thinking about coding throughout the day. When I go to bed, I look forward to my hour of coding the next morning. Then I wake up and wonder again why I decided to do this.
I can see progress though. I’m not sure if the progress is coming from just coding every day, or pushing myself with more difficult challenges, but I feel like the things that gave me trouble 10 days ago are now routine. I’m hoping that in another 5 or 10 days my current challenges will seem routine.
I guess I’ll find that out, and let you know. Check back here in another 5 days for another update, or follow @Donald_Codes on Twitter to see my progress every day!
